The Association of Fish Processing and Trading Companies is an open-ended non-profit organization that unites leading companies in imports, processing and sales of fish and seafood.
The above companies account for nearly 80% of all Russia’s fish products imports. The Association members distribute around 90% of pelagic fish, as well as 80% of salmon in the domestic market. Through the extensive commercial network of member-companies the products are sold in all parts of the Russian Federation.
The need to establish such kind of a professional alliance was realized a long time ago, it is meant to remove obstacles lying in the way of further development of the country’s fisheries sector. Members of the Association are convinced that painful problems faced by the industry should be solved by joint efforts.
Therefore, the main objective of the Association is to develop a well-coordinated policy to guide fish-processing and trading companies, to contribute to a dynamic development of the fish market and make it more attractive to investors.
The key task is to build an effective fish and seafood industry, ensure a legal and economic climate conducive to a sustainable functioning of the fisheries sector. The solution of these issues will enhance the country’s food security and help protect the health of its population.
Through its partnership with the Trade and Industry Chamber the Association focuses on developing a constructive dialogue between the business and the government with a view to improving public control and management of the fisheries sector, as well and to ensure a fair competition environment in that segment of the market.
The Association takes an active part in legislative activities aimed at improving the legal framework for customs and veterinarian controls, as well as procedures envisaged for fish products.
The development of aquaculture includes measures to introduce advanced fish-breeding techniques in order to meet the domestic demand for high-quality products and to increase domestic production.
Moreover, the Association helps its members find potential partners and markets for their products, provides advisory services.
In order to share expertise and experience the Association organizes and holds various events dedicated to fisheries.
Internationally, the Association develops relations with world’s leading companies in harvesting, processing and breeding of fish and seafood.
